Seattle, as seen from the Space Needle, at night.

We are happy to announce that we are planning a wonderful trip for later this summer on what is often described as the most popular passenger train route in the country. Traveling on Amtrak’s Coast Starlight on a round-trip from Los Angeles to Seattle, from August 22 through August 27, 2024.

Our two historic private railroad cars will travel the full length of the route of the ”Coast Starlight”, from the Los Angeles Union Station, with 113 miles along the Pacific Coast of Central California, through the Cascade Mountains, along Puget Sound to Seattle’s King Street Station, where they will be parked for our weekend stay. On Monday morning we retrace our route and return to Los Angeles on Tuesday evening.

Seattle is one of the most popular destinations for travelers in the United States. As our chartered private railcars will be parked at the King Street Station for three nights, it promises to be a great opportunity to explore all that the Emerald City has to offer! As examples it’s a short walk to the historic Pike’s Place Market or a short ride on Seattle’s monorail to the site of the 1962 World’s Fair, with the Space Needle.

Baseball! Watch the San Francisco Giants vs the Seattle Mariners.

Travel from Los Angeles will include food and beverages prepared aboard by our staff, overnight single or double accommodations aboard the railcars, and the ability to use the railcars as hotel space in Seattle, should you so choose.

The two historic railcars we are traveling aboard are veterans of this route’ having made many similar excursions between these two cities. The first of the two rail cars is a historic 1923 Pullman built Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe business car number 33. This car was the rolling office of officials conducting business of the railroad out in the field. The features many of the classic elements originally built for the car, with systems upgraded to meet modern Amtrak requirements.

Our second chartered railcar is the 1950 Budd built Pullman sleeping car, “Pacific Sands”. At one time, the Pullman Company operated the largest number of hotel beds anywhere in the world. This sleeping car offered 10 single occupancy roomettes, and six double bedrooms. This car was used by the Union Pacific on it’s famed City trains between Chicago and the West Coast.
